The Thai Organic Trader Association (TOTA) just enters into an agreement with the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) where the Association has become the IFOAM agent to license the use of the IFOAM global organic mark (GOM) for operator based in Thailand. Instead of various organic seal that confusing consumers, the use of one international seal like GOM would help to promote organic production, trading and consumption in Thailand.
GOM can only be used with the organic products certified with standards approved by the IFOAM as IFOAM Family of Standards and by certification bodies accredited by IOAS or corresponding regulatory agency. (see the list) Initial registration fee of euro 300 and annual fee of 0.3% of the sale of products in Thailand bearing GOM in previous year.
TOTA is currently finalizing the administrative rule for the licensing and hope to have it ready by mid September 2012. Organic operators based in Thailand can contact TOTA for more information (contact us).
